About project management, the PMO (Project Management Office) holds regular project review meetings.

What can we do to deliver a product with a set specification on a limited budget? The lessons of the past are useful for everything.

Here are some common project management mistakes.

01.
Wrong estimation of time and budget

How many times in the past have you been pointed out “Wrong estimation”? And why did you miss the accuracy of the estimate? In most cases, the main reason of wrong estimation is a change in the specifications.

Make estimates that allows some changes.

The estimate is a budget, and if you have a reason, you should add the cost. If you see some changes during project planning, you should include it in the estimate. No matter how busy you are, you need to explain the estimate and try to convince the customers. Customers like free.

02.
Poor communication

When we focus on our work, we can’t communicate with others. Some employees work only in their own world to protect their concentration, such as phone interruptions and chat.

Define the system of meeting rules. A regular meeting should be held at least once a week to review project issues and progress.

Clear rules encourage open communication. A little piece of information that your colleague sitting next to you knows might solve your problem.

03.
Project scope definition

The project scope definition is much more important than we think. In other words, it is to define the work we do. Scope refers to the detailed set of deliverables. These deliverables are defined by requirements.

Projects are always changing. The situation and environment are not always the same. And no one knows when or what will happen in the future.

The project scope definition is not just a task at the start of a project.Even if you think it’s good for the customer, the work out of project scope will not be completed immediately.

We can work better

No matter how much training you have, if you continue your own project management in your own way, you will eventually make a big mistake. One strategy to avoid failure is to learn from history.

We can work better.

Practicing role-playing gives you a different perspective. You can be a project manager with a broad perspective by training using the past information.
